WP 1. Project Management and Administration.

It includes all the activities related to the management and control of the project, conflicts resolution, management and progress reports preparation, meetings arrangement and communication with the Commission Project Officer and Quality Assurance. This work package which runs through the entire project in terms of duration, also deals with the implementation and maintenance of a Web for communication between project partners and public information.

WP 2. Bulk Reading of goods (fish related products) and natural resources.

The objectives of this workpackage are to study the state of the art in goods identification, bulk reading and traceability technologies, and to build an advanced and innovative system for individual and massive reading of processed food products. This bulk reading capability will be complemented with massive writting of tags as well as increasing distance tags reading, all of them possible at this moment with the most innovative advances in RFID technologies.

WP 3. Specification and requirements definition of RFID system.

During the specifications and requirements definition phase all requirements for the overall system are to be defined. Furthermore interfaces between communicating subsystems will be specified. The system will be splitted into two main components (namely reader and tag) and the requirements will be refined for both subsystems in separated tasks. This WP will be executed during the first part of the project, and every partner will be involved to bring in its special experience.

WP 4. System Security Framework.

Digital signature schemes (security and efficiency) take into account the trust model and security architecture. In the same way, we will study and analyse attacks, develop attack scenarios and develop test cases.

WP 5. RFID Integration.

The main goal considered by this workpackage covers the accomplishment of tasks that need to be performed in order to assure that a suitable integration is done in the project. Three specific areas of work need to be considered as it can be appreciated in the following description of tasks: the ones related to RFID tag design, RFID reader interface and RFID tag placement on fishing product.

WP 6. Analysis of the actual work methods used in fishing sector by mobile workers and determination of specific requirements and restrictions for the introduction of new methods of work.

The first purpose of this workpackage consists on gathering the protocols used by SMEs of the fishing sector concerning traceability issues, by means of the knowledge of their own providers (3 SMEs within the consortium) and the final customer itself (1 SME).Then, these protocols have to be analyzed for establishing a detailed definition of the process used for planning and carrying out related operations, so that more affected areas (in terms of performance, efficiency and trustability) of using pervasive and ubiquitous technologies and applications will be identified.

WP 7. Design of the added-value TIS (Traceability Information System)

Design of the added-value geomatic traceability information system throughout the supply-chain by specifying the components to be integrated and customizing them through parameters value assignment and source code editing.

WP 8. Demonstrations in pilot projects

In this workpackage we will test the application in several countries corresponding to the partners included in the consotium, and therefore, solving needs associated to SMEs within SAMANTHA.

WP 9. Assessment and Evaluation

The objective of this work package is to assess and evaluate the SAMANTHA project since the beginning. The results of this work package will be used to continuously inform the project management and the partners involved. This work package has to define the methodology, criteria and mechanisms for the evaluation and assessment of SAMANTHA and to provide a feedback about both the general system and the customization of SAMANTHA for each of the use cases defined by the SMEs within the consortium (Spain, Estonia, UK and Denmark).

WP 10. Exploitation and dissemination

This work package is intended to develop a concrete strategy for the dissemination of results, the establishment of strong know-how about RFID-based systems, traceability procedures and requirements not only applied to the fishing sector, but in general to any other food product control that need to be made, by always respecting and fully applying current regulation, and even going further in requirements set by EU directives. Of course, the deployment of SAMANTHA will look at increasing competitiveness in various SMEs, and the preparation of the exploitation of the final results. The SAMANTHA communications strategy will make use of print, multimedia and dissemination techniques such as electronic newsletters, presentations, events or workshops. As a part of dissemination and exploitation, the project will organise internal workshops to exchange the information about progress and results between the partners.
